Margaret Corcoran MS, ATC/L, CMT , Reiki Master
I began my college career at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, where I majored in Health & Physical Education. Later, I earned my Master's Degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Sports Medicine from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
My interest in physiology and athletic performance led me to becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer through the National Athletic Trainer's Association.
With my sports medicine and athletic training experience, I began to see the need for gentle tactics in the healing process. This interest led me to the University of Richmond's new Massage Therapy Program, where I became one of its first graduates. In this program, I specialized in the study of Swedish Massage and found the effect on a client's body to be therapeutic as well as relaxing. When the body relaxes, it is better able to heal itself.
My focus on relaxation and healing led me to Reiki.
I am now a Reiki Master. These two healing modalities complement each other in ways I never imagined. While Swedish Massage works gently on the physical body, a Reiki Session relaxes and refreshes the mind, energy and spirit on a different level. They are two forms of gentle healing.
